Explosive & Reactive Training

The explosive & reactive training will take place Friday, February 12th from 8 am to 4 pm at the Brown County Port & Resource Recovery Department located at 2561 S. The morning presenter discussing explosives and reactive chemicals, will be Lieutenant Chris Knurr of the Brown County Bomb Squad.  Officer Knurr will be discussing:

  • explosive basics
  • homemade explosives (all ingredients can be found at every HHW collection event!)
  • homemade explosive devices
  • peroxide forming chemicals
  • and more!

The afternoon topic will be drug lab waste presented by Department of Justice (DOJ) Special Agent, Jeremiah Winscher, of the Department of Criminal Investigation.  Special Agent Jeremiah Winscher is currently assigned to narcotics investigations and is part of the state’s clandestine laboratory enforcement and response team.  He is also a site safety officer for lab dismantling and processing.  Prior to service with the DOJ, Special Agent Winscher was a WI Trooper focusing on drug and alcohol impaired drivers and narcotics trafficking enforcement.  Officer Winscher will be discussing:

  • Chemicals used in drug labs
  • How to spot a lab
  • How to handle a lab situation
  • Exposures
  • Volatility and Potential Fire/Explosion Hazards
  • Types of meth, PCP, THC and DMT labs

Household hazardous waste facility operators, material recycling facility operators, solid waste transfer station managers and recycling transfer station managers may benefit from the content of this training.
